Pallet Racking System Doubles Space for Lockheed Martin
Material Center Operations at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control ran into an engineering challenge when they needed to increase storage capacity in a smaller footprint. Production materials had to be stored close to their point of us. Space in their warehouse had already been decreased by 25% and their volume of materials was about to grow significantly. With constructing an addition out of the question, the only way to overcome this challenge was to make their space work smarter. Spacesaver had all the answers they were looking for with their industrial shelving systems.
With a mobile pallet racking system, Lockheed Martin was able to store twice the amount of material in the same footprint. The powered industrial shelving system made it easy for team members to access an aisle and the materials contained within. The aisles expand to a full 12 feet, allowing ample room for the pallet stacker to maneuver in and out of the aisles with ease. After having the pallet racking system in place, storage capacity increased by 70% and they saw a 15% in minutes per transaction efficiency. This warehouse shelving solution has allowed Lockheed Martin to maintain their stellar reputation of operational excellence.
